The Recipe - Beard Elixir

I spent months researching different carrier oils while also testing different blends to see what worked best for my beard. My goal was to create a light - medium viscosity oil that hydrated your face and beard the same way as some of the heavier blends do. Through trial and error i finally cracked it. I created a lightweight, fast absorbing carrier blend packed full of premium carrier oils that leaves your beard feeling soft and healthy. Our blend is also extremely low on the Comedogenic scale so its great for combination, dry and oily skin types. Here is a breakdown of our blend and what makes it so great for your beard.

Pomegranate Seed Oil

Pomegranate Seed Oil is the workhorse in our blend and is a light, emollient oil with skin moisturizing properties that spread easily on the skin without leaving a greasy residue. It acts as a humectant, helping to retain moisture in the skin and providing vibrancy and nourishment to dry, parched and lacklustre skin. Also rich in Vitamin E, Pomegranate Oil protects the skin cells from oxidative damages through its excellent antioxidant properties, thereby giving the skin a young and beautiful appearance.

Pomegranate Seed Oil comes packed with vitamins, minerals and essential fatty acids, which also contribute to its anti-aging capacities. They protect your skin against free radicals, reducing the visible signs of aging, such as fine lines and wrinkles. Its antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties even help improve acne prone skin.

Meadowfoam Seed Oil

An emollient oil with a light texture that is perfect for facial treatments, Meadowfoam Seed Oil contains natural anti-ageing components that work together to encourage skin suppleness and elasticity. Limnanthes Alba Seed Oil penetrates deep into the skin, unclogging blocked pores and removing built-up bacteria that causes acne. In lipsticks and lip balms, Meadowfoam Oil helps revitalize dry, cracked lips and keeps them moist longer. Meadowfoam Seed Oil is one of the most popular carrier oils due to its molecular stability, and it lends stability to other oils that are combined with it making it a wonderful choice for blending. In soap making, this exquisite oil can dramatically enhance the moisturization properties of soap due to its high stability.

With a fatty acid profile that was almost made for hair care, Meadowfoam Seed Oil does a great job at keeping hair hydrated, mending split ends and maintaining and boosting precious shine-inducing moisture-locking cuticles. It can also help to keep the scalp healthy when used as a pre-shampoo oil treatment. Being resistant to heat, Meadowfoam Seed Oil can also be used as a pre-styling treatment to protect the hair against straightening, curling, and blow-drying.

Crambe Abyssinica

The light texture, moisturization capabilities and stable shelf life of Abyssinian Oil make it a highly suitable emollient in natural skincare formulations and light body emulsions. It is recommended for use by all skin types, including oily, dry, itchy, damaged and problem skin. Since it dissolves excess sebum, Crambe Oil is perfect for treating acne and blemishes. Additionally, Abyssinian Oil also contains Linoleic and Linolenic acids, which are important omega fatty acids, known for collagen production, maintaining nutrients, cell-communication, skin conditioning, and anti-inflammatory properties. Crambe Seed Oil also helps improve skin tone and reduce hyper-pigmentation while protecting your skin from excessive heat and UV damage.

Similar in nature to Argan oil, Abyssinian Seed Oil is also well suited for inclusion in hair care formulations as it is non-greasy yet highly moisturizing. When used as a hair oil, it is easily absorbed, giving a boost to shine and condition. The high Erucic Acid content helps to seal in moisture and protect hair strands from dehydration. Crambe Abyssinica Seed Oil is also very stable against heat breakdown so it can also act as a protectant from heating tools and blow dryers.
